Art Technician

Location: The Henley College, Henley-on-Thames

Salary: £10,008.05 ( £24,603.00 FTE 0.406782)                                                                                                       

Contract Type: Part Time, Term Time Only, 18 hours per week

About the Role

Are you passionate about the arts and media? Do you have experience in textiles, screen-printing, and digital art? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

The Henley College is seeking an Art Technician to join our team. As our ideal candidate, you'll be able to demonstrate and help students with screen-printing, feel comfortable in a classroom environment, and order and source art materials for the department.

In addition, you'll attend trips as an extra member of staff, moderate during exams, and comply with the College's rules and regulations.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong practical knowledge of art, textiles, and graphic design processes, including drawing, painting, printmaking, and fabric techniques

• Experience preparing and maintaining specialist equipment (e.g. sewing machines, heat presses, printing tools, cutting equipment)

• Ability to support students in both traditional and digital creative techniques

• Knowledge of health & safety procedures in an art studio/workshop environment, including safe storage of materials and chemicals

• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prepare materials and resources in advance of lessons

• Skilled in stock control and inventory management for art and textile supplies

• Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised workspace

• Good communication skills to support both teaching staff and students effectively

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines

• Basic maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and tools

• Understanding of exam board requirements (e.g. Eduqas) and how coursework is supported logistically

• Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive, flexible approach

• IT literacy, including file management, printing, and digital submission processes

• Minibus Licence or be willing to obtain one

• Willing to work open evenings when required

• Flexibility in terms of hours
