IT Support Technician
Location: Henley on Thames
Salary: Grade 5, £29,301.00
Contract Type: Full-Time Permanent, 37 hours a week
About the Role
We are looking for an IT Technician to join our team at The Henley College. As our IT Technician you’ll provide 1st line support for all IT-related issues, maintain and repair ICT equipment, and introduce new technology to support learning.
Main responsibilities
A methodical worker with a good attention and main duties include:
• Support the IT Manager in the maintenance and management of the College ICT Network.
• Support staff and students in the use of ICT equipment i.e. PCs, Tablets, AV, phones & printers
• Provide 1st line support for all PC. Telephone, network, AV an peripheral related issues
• Diagnosis of OS/software/hardware/cabling faults.
• Monitor the college’s service desk and manage ongoing support tickets.
• Maintenance of user accounts for example password resets, user/mailbox administration
• Maintaining asset inventories
• ICT support for visitors and events outside of the curriculum, i.e. examinations, guest lectures, auditors and inspectors
• Liaising with supplier/service providers and monitoring on-site contractors
• To assist in the introduction of new technology to support learning
• Comply with College Data Protection policy and relevant legislation including GDPR.
• Co-ordinating and participating in cross training as required.
• Be aware and compliant with Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Support the College’s Single Equality Scheme and relevant Equality and Diversity legislation
• Undertake any other reasonable duties
About you
The ideal candidate will:
• Have ICT qualifications – university, college or similar level
• Have prove work experience in IT support and IT Technician roles
• Experience in fault diagnosis and problem solving
• Recent and relevant experience of Windows desktop OS platforms
• Have worked in education
• Good customer service skills
• Good organisational skills
• Able to identify basic troubleshooting of technical issues
• Good communication skills
• Ability to learn new technologies
• Can prioritise tasks
