Library & Study Centre Assistant

Location: The Henley College, Henley-on-Thames

Contract Type: Permanent 19.5 hours per week Term Time Only (38 Weeks)

Salary: £10,842.05 (£24,603.00 FTE 0.440680)

Working Hours: Wed & Thurs 8am to 2:30pm. Fri 8 to 4pm (Including 30mins unpaid break)

About the Role

The Henley College is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Library & Study Centre Assistant to join our friendly Learning Resources team. The post holder will contribute to the effective day-to-day operation of the Library and Study Centres supporting independent study, study skills, curriculum-related research and digital literacy, as well as access to careers and progression information and will include opening and closing duties as required. They will work both independently and as part of a team to provide consistent supervision, guidance and support to students, helping to maintain a calm, inclusive and productive learning environment.

Main Responsibilities

• Support the smooth daily operation of the Library and Study Centres.

• Undertake opening and closing duties.

• Issue, receive and maintain accurate records of books and learning resources.

• Respond to student and staff enquiries.

• Support private study areas.

• Organise, shelve and process books, magazines, journals and other learning resources in an efficient and systematic manner.

• Promote and support the use of eResources, digital learning tools and IT facilities.

• Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff.

• Provide guidance to students on UCAS research, careers information and progression pathways, contributing to Gatsby Benchmark evidence.

• Monitor and support student engagement within the Library and Study Centres.

• Participate in the appraisal process and identify training and development needs to support ongoing professional growth in line with College priorities.

• Contribute to the continued development of the Library and Study Centres.

• Comply with all College policies and procedures.

• Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support the effective and efficient operation of the Library and Study Centres.
